Preparation of Herbal Poultices:
The first step is preparing the herbal bundles (kizhis) using a combination of medicinal leaves such as tamarind, drumstick, castor, and other herbs known for their anti-inflammatory properties. These leaves are mixed with medicinal powders and tied into small bundles using cotton cloth.
Heating the Poultices:
The herbal bundles are warmed in medicated oils or heated in a pan. They are continuously reheated throughout the procedure to ensure that they remain warm and effective during the massage.
Application of Medicated Oil:
Before applying the bundles, warm medicated oil is gently massaged onto the patient's body. This oil serves as a lubricant and enhances the absorption of the herbal properties.
Massage Using Herbal Poultices:
The warm kizhis are rhythmically massaged over the body, focusing on specific areas of pain or discomfort. The bundles are pressed and pounded gently to allow the heat and herbal properties to penetrate the skin and deeper tissues. The process stimulates circulation, eases muscle tension, and reduces inflammation.

The oils and herbal poultices are kept warm using special oil heaters or pans. This ensures that the kizhis remain at the optimal temperature throughout the treatment.
